||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Chris Hurt is scheduled for surgery Monday June 22nd at the Orthopedic Surgical Center, in South Bend at 5:15 pm. The sever injury includes a splintered tibia, ruptured Achilles tendon. Several other torn tendons and ligaments also must be mended. The surgery can not be performed earlier due to the swelling in his ankle. Chris has expressed thanks for the many phone calls and visits from the Titan family. His greatest concern is that everyone knows how much he appreciates the concern shown for him. Chris is in excellent spirits, and resting as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. |

Titans Tie Cardinals in Injury Shortened Game Marked improvement is welcomed in the Titans second preseason game. The game was called with 9:28 remaining due to the sever injury sustained by Chris Hurt. Both teams showed the brotherhood of amateur football by gathering and praying for their fallen brother. "The champion spirit, sheer grit, and will to win, that each of our team members have, was demonstrated at this hard hitting football game, and it shows the make-up of these men," stated Coach Richhart. Neither team was willing to settle for defeat. The Titans, down 26-14 at halftime, battled back to a 27-26 lead in the third quarter. The Cardinals then took a 34-27 lead in the fourth quarter only to have the, greatly improved, Titan offense move down the field and score on the next possession and tie the game at 34-34. After the sever injury to Chris Hurt the game was ended with a fitting score, for two hard fighting teams. The Titans totaled over 400 yds of offense in the second, third and fourth quarters. Antoine Young completed 12 of 18 passes for four touchdowns, two to Shawn Fletcher, one each to Keith Snedeker, and Dave Langager. Ramond Jacobs rushed for 98 yards and one touchdown. Overall the team grades at 64% an improvement of 17% from last week. We wish the tough Indiana Cardinal team the best of luck in the upcoming 2009 season. |
